Prison Island, also known as Changuu Island, is located off the coast of Stone Town in Zanzibar, Tanzania. Here's a brief overview:

History: Originally intended for use as a prison for rebellious slaves in the 1860s, it was never used for that purpose. Instead, it became a quarantine station for yellow fever cases.

Giant Tortoises: The island is famous for its population of Aldabra giant tortoises, originally a gift from the Seychelles. Visitors can interact with and feed these impressive creatures.

Coral Reefs: The surrounding waters are known for their vibrant coral reefs, making it a popular spot for snorkeling and diving.

Beaches and Nature: Aside from the tortoises, Prison Island offers picturesque beaches and a nature trail for those who enjoy exploring the natural surroundings.
