About this experience

What makes our Cave Camping Experience truly unique is that it lets you sleep under the stars in a private cave, deeply connected to Bedouin culture. This is the most traditional way to experience the desert, as Bedouins have camped in caves for centuries. You’ll sleep in the open air, watching shooting stars in complete peace.

Cave camping is the perfect mix of adventure and authenticity—not just sleeping in a cave, but stepping into a way of life passed down for generations.

Before reaching your cave, your journey begins with a Sunset Camel Ride. Moving across the golden sand at a calm, steady pace lets you experience the desert exactly as Bedouins once did. As the sun sets, the landscape glows in warm colors, creating an unforgettable atmosphere. This peaceful ride is the perfect introduction to the beauty and spirit of the desert.

Detailed itinerary

1

The journey begins in Wadi Rum Village, a small Bedouin settlement nestled at the foot of the desert. The village is the gateway to the vast desert landscapes of Wadi Rum. Visitors will see traditional Bedouin houses, local life, and get a glimpse of the surrounding desert.

2
Stop 2

It’s a small natural spring located on a rocky mountain in Wadi Rum, known for its beautiful panoramic view over the desert. The spring is named after Lawrence of Arabia, who was said to stop there for water and rest during his time in the desert. Today visitors climb a short path up the rocks to reach the spring, enjoy the view, see ancient inscriptions, and relax with traditional Bedouin tea prepared by local families.

3

Jebel Khazali is one of Wadi Rum’s most iconic mountains, famous for its narrow canyon filled with ancient Nabatean and Thamudic inscriptions. As you walk through the sandstone gorge, you’ll see carvings, petroglyphs, and symbols that tell stories from thousands of years ago. The canyon’s towering walls, smooth curves, and warm colors make it a stunning spot to explore—perfect for anyone interested in history, culture, or desert landscapes. It’s a peaceful, atmospheric place that reveals the deep heritage of Wadi Rum.

4
Stop 4

The Wadi Rum Protected Area encompasses the entire desert landscape, including the village and the cave. Along the way, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of towering sandstone mountains, narrow canyons, and vast desert dunes, offering a true taste of Wadi Rum’s natural beauty. You will witness an unforgettable sunrise on one of Wadi Rum's breathtaking dunes, before we reach the cave.

5

The Sunset Lovers Cave is a private, peaceful retreat located 12 km deep in the heart of the desert. Upon arrival, you’ll experience the true spirit of Bedouin life, surrounded by the majestic desert landscape. The cave offers a unique overnight stay under the stars, with a cozy double bed. You’ll enjoy traditional Bedouin hospitality, including a delicious dinner by the campfire and stargazing. The cave is a perfect spot to relax, connect with nature, and immerse yourself in the timeless beauty of Wadi Rum.

6

After a peaceful night at the cave, we start the morning with a traditional Bedouin breakfast from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM. Once everyone is ready, we take a 25-minute 4x4 drive back through the stunning desert landscapes to Wadi Rum Village. We will drop you off at the Rest House parking area, where you originally parked your car or where your transportation will pick you up. This marks the end of our journey, where we say goodbye and hope to see you again for another adventure in Wadi Rum!
