Of the bridges linking Porto to Vila Nova de Gaia, Ponte do Freixo is the one furthest upstream from the Douro river.

Ponte de São João is a railway infrastructure that transports the Northern Line over the Douro River, near the city of Porto, in Portugal. Built to replace the 100-year-old Ponte D. Maria Pia, it entered service on June 24, 1991.
