Cenotes are rock formations, the result of limestone soil erosion by rain over thousands of years, as a result of this accumulation of groundwater, cenotes are formed. For the Mayans they represent life and a connection to the spiritual world and the underworld. On this tour, we will visit one of the cenotes that still preserve its natural structure and that modern human life has not affected its essence.
We suggest not using sunscreen, body cream, or repellent, since we can damage the quality of the water in this oasis.
During the tour, our guide will have insect repellent of natural and biodegradable origin. You just have to request it at the moment.
1:00 p.m. | Arrival at the Hacienda Cenote Mucuyche and instructions to access, we will have a historical tour of an Old Hacienda from the 17th century (25 minutes)
1:30 p.m. Historical tour begins
1:55 p.m. | We will allow time for participants to change into their bathing suit.
After taking a shower in the showers, we will proceed to take a life jacket, it is mandatory to use to enter the first cenote named CARLOTA, named after Empress Carlota & Emperor Maximilian of Austria, who visited Yucatan about 150 years ago. And the historians also say that it was at the Mucuyche Hacienda, where they took a few days off from their long journey, the emperors were so pleased that the Empress swam in this cenote that today bears her name.
2:00 p.m. | swimming duration in the first cenote 30 minutes
2:30 p.m. | We will swim with our guide until we reach an artificial river that will connect us to the second cenote.
3:00 p.m. | The tour of the artificial river ends, our next stop will be a dive into one of the cenotes with a very peculiar light phenomenon, when illuminated, the hue of the water remains a deep blue that will surprise the participants.
3:30 p.m. | Exit from the cenote.
Finally, after a visit to the second cenote, our tour of these oases ends with free time in the restaurant area of the hacienda. The food and beverage service is not included, the service is à la carte, you can enjoy the pool area, we will have 1.30 hours before leaving back to the city of Mérida.
5:30 p.m. | Return to Merida
