Stop 2

The White Tower is the most enduring symbol of this city, and definitely worth a visit. It was constructed in the 16th century and was used as a fortress, a prison, and a university workshop. Today the White Tower hosts a museum.

3
Stop 3

This is the city's primary archaeological museum and one of the most important in Greece. It houses an extensive collection of artifacts from the ancient city of Thessaloniki and its surrounding region, spanning from prehistoric times to the Roman period.

4

The Arch of Galerius is a glorious monument, whose purpose was not practical, but memorial and honorary. It was constructed in 305 AD to celebrate and commemorate the final victory of Roman general Galerius over the Persians. Today, The Arch of Galerius is a popular passageway and meeting point in Thessaloniki.

5

The Rotunda is a massive circular structure (built in 306 AD) with a masonry core. Through its long history, it has gone through multiple periods of use and modification as a polytheist temple: a Christian basilica, a Muslim mosque, and a Christian church once again.

6

Hagia Sophia is famous for its architectural grandeur and historical importance. It is one of the main attractions of Thessaloniki, and well worth visiting. The current structure of the Hagia Sophia was built in the 7th century, although there was a church here from as early as the 3rd century. It's one of the oldest and most important in the city.

7
Stop 7

The church of the patron saint of the town is a must see in Thessaloniki. The first church of Saint Dimitrios was built in 313 AD. Twice destroyed by fire, the most modern version was completely rebuilt in 1948 according to the original plans.

8

Even though many of the ancient buildings throughout the era did not survive much, this is one place that is worth visiting for its attractions, temples, pillars and the Stoa is something that you cannot miss. Walk through the area to see the ruins that were beautiful buildings. Just imagine, a lot of these buildings were covered in stunning marble and stone before they got removed.
