Firostefani is located north of Fira. It used to be a separate settlement but today it is considered part of the capital. Its name can be translated as " The Crown of Fira" because of its position on the highest part of Fira. Firostefani provides breathtaking views over the capital, the sea and the volcano. In this traditional village there are a few cozy restaurants, cafes, some shops and a mini market. It also offers some of the most impressive hotels of Santorini and some traditional rooms where you can combine serenity and relaxation with a vivid nightlife.
Oia,which is mentioned in various travel reports,is a scenic village on the north west edge of the Santorini island. It extends for almost 2km (1.2 miles) along the northern edge of the Caldera that forms the island of Santorini,at a height of between 70 and 100m (230 and 330 feet) above sea level. It is built on the steep slope of the Caldera and the houses and restaurants are built into niches carved into the Caldera on the seawood side. There are 300 steps down to the port from Oia. There are narrow passageways and a central square. The surroundings of the town have a complex of white washed , blue domed churches and charming traditional Cycladic houses. It is set in a location which provides excellent views of the sunset over the Caldera
Megalochori, a peaceful traditional village of Santorini with stone cobbled streets. It is located 9 km southwest of Fira. The permanent residents of the village are about 300. It is definitely worth spending an evening here in order to admire distinct buildings such as neoclassical houses, stately homes and old cave houses with solid wooden doors and high fences, which were used as a protection from the pirates. Another landmark of Megalochori is the elaborate steeples of the impressive churches, two of which stand at the center of the village. It is very famous for its vineyards and wineries. There are also two remote beaches on the Caldera side, both named after churches in the area,Plaka and Thermi beach. They are only accessible on foot or by boat. You can find traditional taverns and cafes where you can taste local dishes under the natural shade of the trees.
On the beautiful island of Santorinι after the volcanic eruption, the whole island was covered by a volcanic layer of volcanic ash and rocks. This is the reason why the vines thrive on the island and they have a great tradition in their cultivation. There are 16 different wineries on the island and we will visit one of them. You will taste 4 different varieties per person and you can also hear the history and learn about the local wines. This makes for in-depth knowledge and a more sociable experience. We choose the wineries with care and we usually prefer one of the 3 below.
Gavalas winery, Argyros estate, or Santos winery. If the traveler prefers to visit another winery, he can discuss it with our tour guide.
If you are interested in history this is the place to be. The Ancient City of Akrotiri one of the most important prehistoric settlements of the Aegean, the first civilization of the island was 4500 BC. The main volcanic eruption was 3650 years ago and everything was covered by the volcanic rocks and ashes. The town had 200 acres and only 5% excavated at this time. In the archaeological site of Akrotiri, you can walk through the amazing, well-preserved prehistoric city, which hosts the frescoes, the impressive mural paintings.
The Black Sand Beach is located on the southern coast of the island. There are two successive beaches, Perissa Beach and Perivolos Beach, which form one lengthy beach, the Black Beach. The surface of this beach is made of black volcanic sand and pebbles. Their grey or black color have the name to the whole beach, which is therefore called the " Black Beach". It is known for the thumbing beach bars. The inviting and fun atmosphere in combination with the plentiful bars and restaurants make it a very lively place. There are also plenty of facilities and water sports like windsurfing, canoeing and a diving center. we will stay at the black beach for an hour for swimming and for your lunch at a seaside restaurant on the beach.
