Starting from your hotel we head to “Potamies” an Authentic Cretan village.There we will make our first stop, in a traditional mitato where we will meet a local shepherd with his family. We will see how the cheese is made after first milking the milk from the goats and then we will learn how the flour is made in the traditional herromily. Those who wish can taste from the traditional products of the shepherd, such as cheese, raki and oil.
Wandering among the gardens of the village with the fresh fruits and vegetables of the season and the aromas we will reach the dam of Aposelemis, the largest water supply project in Crete. The village of Sfendili is submerged in the waters of the dam with its impressive old houses fading on the surface of the water.
We continue, for perhaps the most representative village of Crete, Avdou. Characteristic of the settlement, all the buildings preserved and with signs with all the information about how the village was shaped then.
Then we will start our ascent using dirt roads, we will pass through the gorge Of “Ebassas”. The view of the imposing mountains and the wild beauty of nature will reward you. At the short stop, the guide will collect various local herbs (oregano, thyme, sage) as the Cretans used to do.

After this delicious lunch, it is the time to see the monumental plane tree of the village. Its square is dominated by the aqueduct of the 18th century and the imposing centuries-old plane trees and the oldest plane tree of Crete that is over 2000 years old!
We end our day with a tour of an olive oil mill and learning how to export olive oil. A small taste test will follow!
