Important notes

Thank you for booking your tour with Chesapean Outdoors!

Your guide will meet you at 5:30 pm on the beach at First Landing State Park (shore drive location where the campground is located).  The address for your GPS is 2500 Shore Drive, Virginia Beach, Virginia, 23451.  When you arrive you will need to pay the Park Ranger ($4 weekdays/$5 weekends), then park in the main parking lot.  Proceed down the walkway to the right of the Chesapeake Bay Center and our guide will be waiting for you next to the kayaks on the beach. Please keep for your cell phone on you in the event of any last minute changes.

Waiver:

Please sign our electronic liability waiver, https://www.smartwaiver.com/v/generaltours/ .  Waivers MUST be signed in order for you to participate in your scheduled adventure.

 What to bring:

The kayak tour is an open water trip where we launch off the beach.  You will get wet on the tour so dress accordingly.  Sunglasses and sunscreen are highly recommended.  Make sure you are hydrated and have had breakfast. Your guide will have a dry bag to store such items as your keys, money, camera, phone, etc.  Anything like beach towels, shoes, t-shirt we will leave on the beach for your return.

What to expect:

Kayaking with dolphins is an awesome experience.  These are wild dolphins and although we see them very frequently (sightings in the 90 percentile daily), we do not guarantee sightings.  Sea sickness is not common on our tours, but sometimes people do get sea sick. We recommend taking something for that just in case if you are concerned as we do not refund for sea sickness.  Waves, winds, and currents all play a role in making our tours challenging from time to time so typically we require our paddlers to use tandem kayaks when possible.

Cancellations:

If weather or ocean conditions are of concern to Chesapean Outdoors, then we reserve the right to cancel the tour.  Safety is our priority. If you cannot reschedule for another date, then a refund will be given.  If you need to cancel, then Chesapean Outdoors requests that you notify us in writing via email within 48 hours prior to the tour to receive a full refund.  If you fail to notify us within 48 hours and do not show for the tour, Chesapean Outdoors will keep your payment in full (including any vouchers).

Tipping the Guide:

Tipping the guide in the guide service industry is customary.  Although not required, most people usually tip the guide if they feel the guide has done a good job.  Your guide will provide you with key instruction on kayaking in the ocean, help keep you safe on the water, and educate you about the dolphins and other points of interests!
