The botanical garden in Balchik is a piece of heaven on earth, spread over an area of 1 hectare! The garden is world-famous for its unique collection of large cacti, the second of its kind in Europe after the one in Monaco. The collection of 600 specimens of giant succulents, some of which bloom only once every 100 years, is also impressive. No wonder it appeared as the summer residence of the Romanian Queen Maria.

The fortress was successively used by Tracians, Romans, Byzantines and Bulgarians and fascinating topic in many legends.
