Detailed itinerary

1

Our sunset tour of Olympus starts at the Platamon Castle. This medieval castle is situated on a hill overlooking the Thermaic Gulf and the surrounding landscape. Built in the 13th century, this impressive Crusader castle is one of the largest fortresses in the country, still standing strong. Grasp the opportunity to walk along the castle’s grounds and soak in the unparalleled views from above.

2

Continuing our Olympus sunset tour, we will put gravity to the test at the ancient site of Leibithra. Leibithra, the burial grounds of the mythical Orpheus and a haven favored by the Muses, also holds a special trait due to its strong magnetic fields. Tourists visit this archaeological site every year to test whether this particular magnetic field will hold their car in place even on an uphill direction.

3

The final stop on our Mount Olympus sunset tour is a visit to the historic Paleios Panteleimonas. Stroll through the alleys of this traditional Macedonian village, or pay a visit to the town’s souvenir shops where you will find handmade jewelry, folk art, decorations or gifts. If at this point you get hungry, there are several authentic eateries to choose from.
