About this experience

Lake Balaton is the essence of Hungarian rural beauty. Hungary's version of Provance or Tuscany.
In May the weather is perfect, the scenery is charming, with the fresh spring colors.
However, any time of the year,
you will enjoy stunning views, the most beautiful village in the country with century-old whitewashed houses.
The driving time is about 90 minutes. Then we use the ferry to cross the lake (together with the car), where you can already enjoy the beautiful view of the Lake.
The ferry takes us to the nicest part of the lake, a quaint village with the best views.

Detailed itinerary

1
Stop 1

An unforgettable view of Lake Balaton.

2

The pearl of the Balaton is the Tihanyi Peninsula. Thanks to the special attributes of its landscape, its geological idiosyncrasies, its diverse flora and fauna, it was the first nature protection area of the country. On one of its hills a church and a monastery were founded as early as a 1000 years ago.
In Tihany you will walk around this charming and famous little town on the peninsula with the same name.
Walk the streets of the most beautiful village in Hungary.
You can also try the famous lavender products of the region, such as lavender beer, lemonade, ice cream....
It is hard to describe this serene, quaint village.

3

A baroque church and a monastery founded a 1000 year ago. (Almost. 22 years to go.)
Optionally we can go in the building and have a look.

4

We drive to Lake Balaton (about 90 minutes, up to your location in Budapest), then take the ferry from the southern shore to the northern shore.
We will do this on the way back too.

5

We can have lunch too, this is optional. This is also above the 5 hours time planned.
It takes about 20 minutes to get the food, plus the time eating it and getting the bill.
