Detailed itinerary

1

In National Museum there is a great opportunity for travelers to witness the copy of our famous fossil discoveries of Zinjanthropus ('nutcracker man') from Olduvai Gorge, plus other archaeological finds as well as Tanzania's past and its mosaic of cultures, including the Shirazi civilisation of Kilwa, the Zanzibar slave trade, and the German and British colonial periods.

2

The Kivukoni fish market is a trading spot for fish and seafood that were caught or produced in the Kivukoni area as well as the neighboring places. In other words, throughout the day, there is fish being delivered to the place by fishermen and also people from all places of the city coming to buy from it. It is famous for having different kinds of seafood available at the lowest prices in the city.

3

This Church was built by German missionaries at the end of the 19th century. The architecture of this building is pretty impressive! It contains original German works and inscriptions. (depending on time and traffic, you may drive by, stop and visit or skip this location)

4

The Askari Monument is a statue that is located at a roundabout in Dar es Salaam connecting Samora Avenue with Maktaba Street. The Askari Monument was built in 1927 as a tribute to the African soldiers who fought in World War I on the allied forces side in Africa. A German statue used to be at the place of the Askari Monument, which was then removed by the British when they arrived in Dar es Salaam in 1916. (stopping is not permitted but there is time to take pictures from inside the vehicle)

5

In the heart of Dar es Salaam, the Slipway outdoor shopping center located along the ocean coastline, is a great way to shop for quality souvenir items. Slipway has tons of shops, restaurants and walkways with an amazing view for pictures. You will find treasures in shops selling a whole range of goods from fabrics to sandals, beaded necklaces, and more. Don’t forget to bargain and shop around at the market, as prices are negotiable and you may find a similar item for half the price at another stall. (This stop may be replaced with Mwenge depending on tour, time, weather, road closures and traffic. The same and/or similar items can be found at Mwenge Woodcarvers)

6

Here you will visit the Village Museum where you can have the historical background of many Tanzanian cultures. This is an interactive stop where you get to see traditional African huts from different tribes. Then you get to see a traditional village dance where you are welcome to join in and learn how to do some traditional native dance moves

7

This market is the local heartbeat of Dar es Salaam. The place where you can find any and all items at market prices. Kariakoo is also an immersive cultural experience with all the sights, sounds, crowds of people and buildings. (This stop may or may not be included depending on time of day, traffic and weather) Guest will not be permitted to walk through Kariakoo. Only drive through

8

Mwenge Woodcarvers is the perfect tourist attraction where you can mix souvenir shopping with local culture. Mwenge Woodcarvers is locally known as the best place to get a variety of local items such as, traditional bags, jewelry, shoes, wood carvings, paintings, drums, keyrings, kitchen items and much more. Mwenge is a community of local shops owned and operated by local artist and people. It's a great way to shop and give back to the community. (This stop can be replaced by Slipway.
