Detailed itinerary

1

The visit to the mines on the Iglesiente sea starts from the Fontanamare beach, the beautiful 4 km strip of sand that we meet as soon as we go towards the Iglesiente sea.
Here we will observe the final part of the Gallery for the drainage of the waters of the "Umberto 1st" mine, an imposing work that connects the Monteponi mine with the beach of Fontanamare built starting from 1880. In front of the beach there are mining buildings representing the remains of a foundry, of which the chimney remains, and of the systems for loading the minerals.

2

Once in Nebida, we will go down the steep slope to admire one of the most evocative monuments of mining art, nicknamed the "colosseum of mining art" which tells the story and the machinery of Laveria La Marmora.

3

You will walk on the Belvedere di Nebida to admire the landscape of the five stacks that characterize the Iglesia coast, observing the oldest rocks in Europe, which also includes the famous stack of Pan di Zucchero, taking the opportunity to talk about the exceptional history geology of the area.

4

We will move towards the beautiful beaches of Masua, making a short stop in the mining area, to observe from above the old structures of what was one of the most important mining areas in Sardinia. We will then visit the beach of Masua with the ancient pier from which the bars were loaded.

5

Last stop in Porto Flavia, the famous mining port on the sea, where you can visit the inside of the gallery, to see the spectacular silos dug into the rock and the marvelous Pan di Zucchero stack from a special point of view.
