Detailed itinerary

1

Spend a fantastic day in the Sicani mountains, a territory to be discovered in the Sicilian hinterland. We will start the journey from the meeting point and reach the first characteristic villages of the excursion, Sant'Angelo Muxaro. Here we will visit the Necropolis of the Sicani since Minoans. According to Greek mythology, it was the capital of the Sicanians, the pre-Greek people and considered the native of Sicily. According to legend, the "Kamikos" fortress of Daidalo was built for King Sikano Kokalos. We will also take a walk through the alleys of the small village until the museum that houses some precious archaeological finds.

2

Next, we will reach the Hermitage of Santa Rosalia alla Quisquina, a mystical and very fascinating place in the heart of the forest, a mandatory stop for all pilgrims from Palermo. Here we will be told about the life of the virgin as well as the patroness of Palermo. The hermitage includes, in addition to the "cave", the church, the crypt and conventual buildings such as cells, kitchen and refectory.

3

In the afternoon we will go to Cammarata, considered the flagship among the Sicani mountains, a town which stand at the foot of the mountain at about 700 meters above the sea level. We will also have a lunch in a typical “Sicilian trattoria” with all the high-quality products of the Sicani mountains accurately prepared by the chef. After lunch, light walk in the center of San Giovanni Gemini to discover the Black Christ "Gesù Nazarè" (Jesus from Nazareth) houses in the Mother church, where we will listen about its fascinating story. Return to the base around 5 pm
