About this experience

If you are interested in knowing how Dominicans really live, their customs, their culture, do not forget to take advantage of this great opportunity. Our transport will pick you up at your hotel, you will start a wonderful trip of approximately one hour until you reach Higüey, the first thing you will do is visit a coffee, cocoa and tobacco plantation, we will explain the process of their harvest and preparation. You will visit a beautiful souvenir shop, made by the owners themselves, later we will move to the cathedral basilica of Higüey, you can enter to enjoy its beautiful architecture. Then we will go to the Higüey market where you can see the local commerce among other things, you will have an incredible panoramic view of the church of San Dionisio, which was the place where the Virgen de la Altagracia made her appearance. Upon returning we will make a brief stop at the beautiful and incredible Macao beach to admire its white sands, at the end our transport will take you back to your hotel.

Detailed itinerary

It all starts with pickup at the hotel to head to our first stop.

Our first stop will be the coffee and cocoa plantation where you can see the process of making these products and at the same time you can taste it. Near the plantation we will visit a family where we can see how the locals live in the Dominican countryside.

In a panoramic way we will take a tour of the La Ceiba neighborhood, a neighborhood of working people in the area.

An authentic Dominican factory, where you can try cigar making in the original environment with the original tools. You can buy Dominican Cigars and, of course, there is a wide variety of cigars, from cheap to premium quality.

Continuing our panoramic tour we will observe the neighborhood of La Otro Banda, one of the busiest neighborhoods in the area since it is very close to the city.

Following our panoramic adventure we will show you the local market of Higūey where locals go to buy basic necessities.

Then, in a panoramic view, we will observe the beautiful and grandiose San Dionisio Church, this monument began to be built in the year 1569 and was completed in the year 1572.

Then we will arrive at the place most visited by Dominicans, the Nuestra Señora De La Altagracia Cathedral. The construction began in 1954 and took 17 years to complete. There we can enjoy that magnificent construction, its beautiful interiors and why not, be able to pray for a few minutes.

Then we return to the Bávaro area, along the way we will see the largest sugar cane plantations.
