Detailed itinerary

1

Your tour begins at the Railway station (at the main entrance) and in few yards we reach the rental shop to take our bikes and to be ready for the discovery of this fascinating bike friendly town. You will soon realize how the green space and the bike routes give a privilege visit of Lucca.

2
Stop 2

The ride continues on the top and around the town walls: you will enjoy an outstanding view of the city centre, a gorgeous vista on the surrounding countryside and understand the history and the construction of the fortification during the centuries. Your guide will give you the chance to explore secret passages and hidden sites that you couldn't find on your own.

3
Stop 3

We will go through the historical centre to admire the many noble palaces and old churches, passing by the outstanding Guinigi Tower. You will also cycle along less touristy neighbourhoods getting a real taste of local life. Therefore, it will be the time to enjoy our first food stop, by paying a visit to our favourite shop and tasting delicious delicatessens of the city. You will try delicious pecorino cheese, local cold cuts and cherry on top - the extra-virgin olive oil. You will also learn about traditional recipes and get to know about curious ingredients.

4
Stop 4

After the tasting we go on a ride through different corners of the city centre admiring narrow alleys, secondary trails and ancient churches till we reach and glimpse the façade of the lowest one: San Frediano basilica which is very close from the fascinating Amphitheatre square. We’ll continue exploring the east side of the town that is less known but very local.

5

Later we’ll go back on the saddle and we’ll climb back to the walls, concluding the visit by seeing the remaining unexplored parts. We head down again to the historical centre passing by Piazza Grande, ready for the last sweet stop in the oldest ice cream shop of Lucca: here we will taste a real excellence, the best gelato you will always remember (in colder months gelato will be replace with a cake and a coffee)! Finally, we return to the starting point fully aware that we have experienced the city in the manner of the locals.
