The Magical Town of Coscomatepec is located in the central mountainous part of the state of Veracruz. One of the charms that characterize this destination, in addition to its great cultural wealth, is its proximity to the Citlaltépetl volcano.

One construction is from the 17th century; inside it shelters one of the three Christs of the Agony that remain in the world. For many, his face is of great beauty and the particularity of his gaze, directed towards the sky, makes him unique. Some say that it is an expression of pain, others of prayer and still others of contemplation.

The museum protects archaeological objects found by the inhabitants of Coscomatepec in the surroundings. The idea of having a space to exhibit these interesting pieces came to Sergio Alonso Estévez, a resident of Coscomatepec who was in charge of gathering the collection, forming the civil association and promoting the space.

The municipal library provided the physical space where the museum's permanent collection is displayed, made up of more than 300 cataloged and documented archaeological pieces.
The objects belong to the Totonac and Otomi cultures, and were made of ceramic, stone and obsidian for the most part.

Nestled in the central region of the Altas Montañas de Veracruz, surrounded by rivers of crystal clear water that stroll along the roads of the city and with a majestic watchman such as the Citlaltépetl volcano, the Magical Town of Orizaba faithfully awaits to show you its wealth. historical and cultural legacy of the fusion of pre-Hispanic roots such as the Totonacs, Toltecs, Tlaxcaltecas and Mexicas with the new colonial customs.

Its privileged location made Orizaba one of the most relevant towns during the Viceroyalty, as it was an important link in the commercial routes of the time.

Due to the origin of its name in Nahuatl, Ahuilizapan is known as the "City of Happy Waters", the best time to visit it is from February to November when its weather is hot, making it the ideal cradle of one of the best coffee beans in the country. , in addition to multiple dishes such as chiliatole, picadas or tripes de leche, gastronomic delights that you cannot miss.

One of the most emblematic places of the Magical Town of Orizaba is the Cathedral of San Miguel Arcángel that dates back to 1624 and its facade shows a Corinthian style of the 17th century, it also has its main nave where you can admire sacred art.

The architectural design of the Mier y Pesado building in Orizaba, inaugurated in 1944, is unique in the State of Veracruz, due to its size and shape, which resembles that of a castle. Its magnificence makes it catalog as one of the main works of the XIX century in Orizaba.

Its construction, in an eclectic style, was in charge of the architect Juan Segura. The quarry stone -with which it was built- and the top of its arches give it an unparalleled view. Other representative elements of this are its gardens, its trees and shrubs with figures and its majestic fountain.

In 2014 the building was declared an Artistic Monument by the Ministry of Public Education. The Orizaba City Council acquired the property in 2015.
