City tour in Überlingen including wine tasting - an ideal connection!
Join us on a guided city tour through the historic old town of Überlingen am Bodensee and taste various delicious Bodensee wines during your tour!
During our tour of Überlingen you can enjoy the noble plants of the region in selected beautiful places in the old town and/or with a view of Lake Constance. Along the way, you will hear facts and anecdotes about Lake Constance wine.
Here on Lake Constance, the vines grow predominantly on ice age weathering soils - there is nowhere else in Germany! The terroir offers ideal conditions to produce fine wines. The mild climate, Lake Constance as a heat store, the reflection of the sun's rays on the vines and the warm blower winds from the south ensure that excellent, award-winning wines grow on Lake Constance at an altitude of sometimes more than 500 m above sea level.

The Rosenobel Tower was built as a three-storey roundel in 1657 as part of the city walls. To welcome you, enjoy a glass of refreshing Lake Constance prosecco.
In the Middle Ages, the Menzinger Gardens were used to supply the city's inhabitants. Vines were also planted here. Nowadays, it is the Überlingen winegrower family Kress that grows different grape varieties here again. Enjoy not only a glass of excellent Lake Constance wine, but also the fantastic view over the rooftop landscape of the city, across the lake to the Alps.
The St. John's Tower from the 16th century is the most powerful preserved defensive tower in Baden. Built as a defiant defensive tower on the northeasternmost city wall, the Spielmanns- und Fanfarenzug Überlingen has its rehearsal rooms in the old wall these days.
The Municipal Museum Überlingen is located in the Reichlin von Meldegg-Haus, one of the oldest Renaissance buildings in Germany and an important sight of the city. In the garden of the former patrician house you can enjoy a glass of delicious Lake Constance wine and a wide view over the old town of Überlingen to St. Nicholas Cathedral and Lake Constance.
Please note that this guided tour does not include a visit to the exhibition at the museum.
Just a few steps away you will find the Lemon Gaessle in the middle of the historic old town of Überlingen. Listen to the legends surrounding the origin of the name “Lemon Gaessle” in this idyllic place.
The Nellenbach empties into Lake Überlingen and has dug itself an almost wildly romantic romp through the ice age molasses sandstone here in thousands of years. We follow the rushing stream a few steps along the old city walls.
Built around 1494, the Franciscan Gate is one of the most beautiful late Gothic city gates in the Lake Constance region. It stands on the northern edge of the historic city centre and opens access to the old main trade route that leads down to the harbour on Lake Constance. Hear the legend here, why the plaster crumbled just a short time after the tower was completed...
The five-nave basilica is the parish church of Überlingen. Built between 1350 and 1576, it is the largest late Gothic church on Lake Constance. The carving altar by Jörg Zürn from the late Renaissance is an outstanding work of art. During a short guided tour we will show you the artworks from the past 500 years.
The Überlingen Town Hall from the 14th century was built in the early Renaissance style. Together with the Pfennigturm, the former Überlingen Mint, it dominates the Überlingen Market Square, also called Hofstatt, with its cuboids of Rorschacher sandstone.
The Überlingen marketplace, also called Hofstatt, is lined with former guild houses. The square is reminiscent of a Tuscan piazza with its architecture and spaciousness. Here is a fountain dedicated to Heinrich Suso, a mystic of the 14th century whose roots lie in Überlingen.
The “Greth” was already built in the High Middle Ages on piles directly into the lake. At that time, it was the city's grain and department store, equipped with market halls where the goods were traded and then loaded onto shops to be shipped all over Lake Constance and down the Rhine. Above it were the administrative rooms, and under the roof the storehouse for grain and wine. Today, the building has been converted, expanded and modernized to include a market hall, gastronomy and a cinema. It is located directly at the landing site and invites you to taste a delicious glass of Lake Constance wine here!
The Lake Constance Rider Fountain was created by artist Peter Lenk, who lives and works on Lake Constance. It shows personalities from Überlingen, but – let me tell you this much – not everyone was pleased with their portrayal. Listen to the history of the fountain and be surprised which bizarre figures populate the fountain!
The last stop is the landing site where the passenger ships dock. Here you can enjoy your last glass of Lake Constance wine of our tour. Freshly fortified, you can then “set sail” on one of the ships, or take a walk along the Mediterranean-looking lakefront. It is the longest of Lake Constance, lined with plane trees, trumpet trees, palm trees, cacti and exotic flowers.
Please note: Minimum number of participants 8 people.
Meeting point is at the bus stop above the Rosenobelturm, Hizlerstraße/corner Wiestorstraße.
