The location of Althing, the old Parliament of Iceland. At Þingvellir the Eurasian and North American plate boundaries which run through Iceland are clearly visible – the plates are moving apart here and the land between them is subsiding.
From Þingvellir we head along the mountains to the world renowned geothermal hot spring area around Geysir. Although the original Geysir is not active at the moment, its neighbor, Strokkur, spouts every 5 or 10 minutes.
Gullfoss means the Golden waterfall and you will not be disappointed there. Gullfoss is actually two separate waterfalls of 11 and 22 meter height. On a sunny day a rainbow will be likely to show up and you can make wishes that might even come true!
