The Wieliczka Salt Mine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stands as one of Poland’s most cherished cultural treasures. Each year, over a million visitors from around the globe explore the mine to admire its stunning carvings and intricate reliefs. Salt was continuously extracted from this mine from the 13th century until 1996.
The tourist path descends to 135 meters and spans 3.5 kilometers. The approximately 2-hour walking tour takes you through various attractions, including numerous salt sculptures, chandeliers, and a remarkable cathedral. Throughout the tour, the guide will highlight the original tools and equipment used by miners and share insights into the daily lives of the Wieliczka miners as they worked deep beneath the surface.
