About this experience

Hear the story of Myrtle Beach’s coming of age in the mid-20th century to present day, the movies that were made or premiered there, the role music played in its history and that Myrtle Beach played in music history. Stops include Charlie’s Place Historic Site that was once a part of the Chitlin' Circuit and its motel was listed in The Green Book. Guests gather in front of the Grand 14 Theater at The Market Common to begin boarding at 9:45 AM. Nearby cafes are open prior to the tour and upscale restaurants and stores are ready to welcome patrons upon the tour's return at noon. The trolley is enclosed and climate-controlled. GUESTS MUST BE AT LEAST 3 YEARS OLD FOR THIS TOUR. It is best that you book prior to the Monday before your desired tour.

We will briefly stop in Myrtle Beach's new historic district.

We will also stop at Charlie's Place Historic Site where the greatest names in 20th Century American music performed from the 1930s to the 1960s. The club itself, which had been a popular stop on what was known as the "Chitlin' Circuit," is no longer there, but Charlie's home is along with a reconstruction of his motel that was listed in THE GREEN BOOK, a guide for African-American travelers during segregation.

Please arrive by 9:50 AM to check in and pre-select your trolley seat from a seating chart. In order to maintain social distancing, guests will board all at once and in the order of the seats they selected. Those who choose seats in the back will board first and exit last at each stop.
