Upon reaching Vesuvius's Gran Cono, you can embark on a unique hike to the crater rim. This "Great Cone" trail offers unparalleled panoramic views of the sprawling Bay of Naples, encompassing Capri, Ischia, and the Sorrento Peninsula. As you walk along the crater's edge, you'll observe the volcanic landscape shaped by past eruptions – ash, lapilli, and small lava flows. You might also spot fumaroles, small vents emitting steam and sulfur, tangible signs of the volcano's dormant yet active nature. The sheer size of the crater, with its elliptical shape, is impressive, offering a direct glimpse into the raw power of nature.
The meeting point is the gates of the Vesuvius. You don't need to meet anyone, the tour is on-your-own. We will provide tickets and audioguide via whatsapp or email.
