About this experience

Before the visit to Silves, be surprised by a pearl placed in a rocky spot over the sea: Senhora Da Rocha Chapel on top of a cliff. Further north, the historic and charming city of Silves with its heritage, colors. Land of Muslim princes and princesses, knights and ancient legends, get carried away by this enchanted region. A fascinating and unforgettable tour through the past, gastronomy and people of Silves. You will visit the great castle of Silves. Further inland, the pace of life changes dramatically as time passes very slowly. Monchique and its mountain offer the opportunity to relax and to enjoy the food and local special drinks, known all over south. The tour ends at Mount Fóia, the highest point in the Algarve with an elevation of 902m.

On the magnificent promontory of Senhora da Rocha, there is the Chapel of Senhora da Rocha.
According to historical sources, the Chapel was surrounded by an old fortress (15th century), which dominated the entire coast between Faro and Lagos, and protected the populations and the coast but the fortress was destroyed during the 1755 earthquake.

Visit to Silves Castle and Silves Cathedral. Entrances not included. You will be introduced to the history and architecture of the city. Walk through the historic area and pass through the municipal market. Opportunity to taste local sweets.
Wine tasting, optional at extra cost, will depend on what has been agreed with customers and varies from tour to tour. It may be after lunch or on the return in the afternoon. Lunch in a local restaurant. Not included.

Short walk along the paths of the Caldas and time for tea / coffee
Visit of the town of Monchique and stop by the traditional shops of the village.
We will continue up the hill to Fóia. We will do a short stop at Miradouro da Fonte Santa where you can taste the water directly from the Spring. Continuing our journey, we will arrive in Fóia (the highest point in the whole Algarve ).
