This beautiful hiking route takes us to a very scenic part of the east of the island of Ischia. The starting point is in the center of Barano. The east coast is very original with traditional villages, a special pilgrimage church, orchards and vineyards and rugged cliffs. Magnificent panoramic views of Vesuvius, the sea and Capri will accompany us. On the way we partially circle a 2,000 year old volcano. A shallow area in the sea near the cliffs tells us the position of another volcano that is below sea level. Feather-light pumice stones form rock walls on the cliffs. Today they tell us about the volcanic past of this region. Old terraced gardens are still used for growing wine and vegetables. We take a break at the farmhouse with a view of Vesuvius. Then we reach the end point on the village square in Campagnano.
