The Tibetan Refugee Self Help Centre (TRSHC), located in Lebong and locally known as Hermitage, was founded on October 2, 1959. Zhu Dan established this centre in 1959 with funds raised through local charity (wife of Gyalo Thondup). Initially, the facility provided emergency relief to Tibetan refugees who had made the perilous journey across the Himalayas into India.
