The Durrës Archaeological Museum is the largest archaeological museum in the country. The museum is located near the beach and north of the museum are the 6th-century Byzantine walls, Constructed after the Visigoth invasion of 481AD.

Situated in the centre of Durres, the Amphitheatre, which embodies unique architectural and cultural values, is one of the largest and most important of its kind in the Balkan Peninsula and the only one in Albania. Dating back to the 2nd century AD.

The Town Hall and theater face each other and behind them is the ruins of the Byzantine Forum. The forum and baths is thought to date from the end of the 5th century B.C. and only a few of the Corinthian columns still stand. The Royal Villa of Durrës served as the summer residence of King Zog. It was used as the summer palace by the Albanian Royal family during the reign of the Monarchy and still remains a symbol of the Monarchy in the City.
The Venetian Castle is an extension of the Byzantine Fortress of Durrës. Built in the sixth century, it was considered as one of the most powerful fortresses along the western coast of the Adriatic.
