Detailed itinerary

1
Stop 1

Our private walking tour of Nice starts at the vibrant heart of the city—Place Masséna. Here, the rich history and culture of Nice come alive. Your guide will reveal the captivating story of Nice’s origins and the city’s remarkable development. The square’s focal point is the Sun Fountain, graced by the impressive statue of Apollo at its center. But Place Masséna has even more to offer—adorned with various sculptures and decorative elements that highlight its unique architectural charm and create a historical and cultural ambiance. Among these is "The Thinkers of Nice," a distinctive artistic creation by Jean Fabre, adding a unique flair to the square. Your guide will lead you through these features, providing fascinating insights into all that this iconic location has to offer.

2

As we make our way to the flower market at Cours Saleya, we’ll pause briefly at the impressive Nice Opera House. During the 19th century, Nice became a favored winter haven for European aristocrats, and this grand building captures the essence of that period. The Opera House, a collaboration between the city architect Brunati and Turin architect Perotti, was constructed in the neoclassical style, showcasing the strong Italian influence present in Nice’s architecture. Here, you’ll have the chance to capture stunning photos with the majestic theater as your backdrop. Just across from the opera, you can also visit the historic Dominican Fathers Convent, one of the oldest in the Dominican order, founded in 1205.

3
Stop 3

Our next stop is the bustling Cours Saleya Market, nestled in the heart of Nice’s Old Town. This lively market is a hive of activity, with striped awnings providing shade over stalls brimming with fresh produce and vibrant flowers available daily. Both locals and tourists are drawn here, either to shop or simply to admire and capture photos of the colorful displays. The air is filled with the uplifting scents of fresh produce and flowers, contributing to the market's warm and inviting atmosphere. You’ll have some free time to explore at your own pace, and your guide will highlight where to find the famous Fragonard perfumery boutique and other hidden gems.

4
Stop 4

Quai des États-Unis, Promenade des Anglais, and Quai Rauba Capeu

Our tour continues as we leave Cours Saleya and step onto the renowned Promenade des Anglais, particularly the stretch known as the Quai des États-Unis. Here, we’ll pause briefly before ascending to Castle Hill. At the foot of the hill lies Quai Rauba Capeu, which boasts one of the most breathtaking views of Nice. This location has become a symbol of the city, thanks to the giant "I Love Nice" hashtag that now graces this scenic corner of the promenade, making it a must-see spot for visitors.

5

As we make our way to the highest point of the Old Town, our journey begins with a stop at the historic Tour Bellanda. Once a fortress built for the city's defense, this tower has transformed into a beloved viewpoint, offering stunning vistas of the Bay of Angels. You’ll have the chance to unwind and soak in the panoramic scenery. To reach the summit, you can choose between taking the elevator at the hill’s base or, for the adventurous, climbing the Lesage staircase. The ascent, though impressive, is manageable and well worth the effort for the incredible views.

6
Stop 6

From the Bellanda Tower, we’ll continue our journey to the highest viewpoint on Colline du Château, where you’ll be treated to an unforgettable panoramic view of all of Nice and much of the French Riviera. As we ascend, we’ll pause briefly at a stunning waterfall nestled in the heart of Castle Park. Surrounded by lush greenery, this picturesque waterfall offers breathtaking views of Nice and the Mediterranean Sea. Get ready to be enchanted by the beauty of nature and the spectacular scenery that awaits you.

7

As we make our way back to the Old Town, our next stop is the magnificent Cathédrale Sainte-Réparate. Located on Place Rossetti, this cathedral is a stunning example of Baroque and Renaissance architecture, making it one of the most important Christian landmarks in the region. Today, the Cathédrale Sainte-Réparate draws both pilgrims and tourists alike, eager to explore this historical gem and bask in its serene beauty and tranquil atmosphere.

8

As our Old Town tour concludes, we arrive at the Place du Palais de Justice. Here, you’ll encounter the grand Palais de Justice, a striking example of neoclassical architecture. This significant landmark is a central feature of Nice's historic district, seamlessly integrating history, architectural splendor, and the city’s vibrant cultural life. It epitomizes the rich heritage and grandeur of the area.

9
