The Maeght Foundation or Fondation Maeght, pronounced "mɑɡ", is a museum of modern art on the Colline des Gardettes, a hill overlooking Saint-Paul de Vence. It was established by Marguerite and Aimé Maeght in 1964 and houses paintings, sculptures, collages, ceramics and all forms of modern art.
The collection includes works by many important 20th-century artists including Jean Arp, Pierre Bonnard, Georges Braque, Alexander Calder, Marc Chagall, Sam Francis, Alberto Giacometti, Wassily Kandinsky, Ellsworth Kelly, Fernand Léger, Anne Madden and Joan Miró among others.

Explore the pedestrian streets of Saint-Paul de Vence and immerse yourself the village's history and heritage... following in the footsteps of one of his best known artist... Marc Chagall. in 1949 He bought a house in Vence close to the Matisse chapel. At the time, the French Riviera was an incredible « art center » frequented by many artists such as Matisse, Picasso, Magnelli, Léger. In 1962, Chagall decorated one of the chapels of the Notre Dame de la Nativité cathedral. He made a colourful mosaic featuring Moses saved from the waters.
From the end of the 1950’s, he participated to the project of creation of the Maeght Foundation that opened in 1964 in Saint-Paul de Vence.
