Our first stop is at the archaeological site of Akrotiri, one of the most significant prehistoric settlements of the Aegean Sea where archaeologists continue excavating. The settlement was destroyed in the Theran eruption sometime in the 17th century BC and buried in volcanic ash which preserved the remains of fine frescoes and many objects and artworks.
Next stop is at the unique Red beach in the area of Akrotiri, you will the chance of taking amazing photos.
We continue our visit at the monastery of Prophet Elias built in 1711, at the summit of the mountain that stands about 600 meters above sea level. Enjoy the superb views of the island and the caldera and have some free time for photo shooting.
Last stop will be at Pyrgos, a traditional village with the white- washed houses and the narrow paths that are built like a labyrinth around the old castle and make Pyrgos a village that definitely deserves the visitor’s attention.
