About this experience
On the outskirts of Suzhou city, Tongli town is known for a system of canals, it has been given the nickname "Venice of the East". The place retains many of the features of an ancient Wu region town, such as small bridge, flowing water, white wall, black roof tiles.
The town is divided into 7 small islands by 15 canals arranged like the Chinese character "川" and connected by 49 ancient bridges as a whole.
After visiting Tongli about hundreds of times, I am still not tired of it. I hope you will also be impressed by its quietness and uniqueness.

you will feel the southern Chinese country lifestyle and the running water from ancient canals, stone bridges and stone stairs in front of almost every family house. First, you will visit Tuisi Garden which is a UNESCO site and will be amazed by the beauty of the garden.

The world-class Tuisi Garden, built from the 11th to the 13th year of the Guangxu Period of the Qing Dynasty, is a masterful display of garden-building techniques. Ren Lansheng, master of the garden, was once an officer. After being sued and removed from office, he built this garden and named it “Tuisiyuan,” which in Chinese means “retreating and reflecting on one’s faults.” Yuan Long, the garden’s designer, was a skilled poet and painter. He designed the original layout and completed the garden within two years. Tuisi Garden covers an area more than 0.65 square meters.
