The Calico Basin Trail is a fairly easy 1.5 mile out-and-back trail that will show you some new angles of the Calico Hills, but it mostly serves as a connecting route to other longer trails.

Today the Calico Hills are mounds of hard, red rock, but they looked completely different 180 million years ago. Back then, you’d instead find a huge field of shifting sand dunes.
