Detailed itinerary

1
Stop 1

Our first stop is the palace of Knossos, through whose premises you will be guided by our guide.

The Minoan palace is the main site of interest at Knossos Archeological Site, an important city in antiquity, which was inhabited continuously from the Neolithic period until the 5th c. AD. According to tradition, it was the seat of the wise king Minos. The Palace of Knossos is connected with thrilling legends, such as the myth of the Labyrinth, with the Minotaur, and the story of Daidalos and Ikaros.

2
Stop 2

We head to the center of Heraklion, where you have plenty of time to eat and shop. While there, you also have the chance to visit the archaeological museum of Heraklion with our guide and to admire up close murals and objects from the palace you have just visited.

The Heraklion Archaeological Museum is one of the largest and most important museums in Greece, and among the most important museums in Europe. It houses representative artifacts from all the periods of Cretan prehistory and history, covering a chronological span of over 5,500 years from the Neolithic period to Roman times. The singularly important Minoan collection contains unique examples of Minoan art, many of them true masterpieces. The Herakleion Museum is rightly considered as the museum of Minoan culture par excellence worldwide.

3

Before we reach our destination, however, we make a one-hour stop at Rethymnon city.

Explore one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Greece, and search for your fairy-tale romance in Rethymno. Venetian fortification works mingle harmonically with orthodox and catholic churches, mosques, majestic mansions of Venetian architecture, arches and cobbled paths which create a magical atmosphere, reminiscence of the city’s turbulent –yet glorious– past.

4

Right after that, we return to Chania and to your hotels.
