Our first destination of this wonderful private tour is the charming fortified town of Woudrichem. This picturesque town, with its well-preserved ramparts, quaint streets, and stunning riverside views, feels like stepping back in time. Stroll through its historic center, where old merchant houses and the medieval church tell stories of the past.
From Woudrichem, we continue to the legendary Loevestein Castle. This 14th-century fortress, once a strategic stronghold and later a famous prison, offers a captivating glimpse into medieval life. Walk through its thick stone walls, explore the knight’s hall, and hear the incredible tale of Hugo de Groot’s daring escape in a book chest!
After soaking in the history of Loevestein, we continue to Gorinchem, a hidden gem among Dutch fortified towns. Our final stop takes us to Schiedam, home to the world’s tallest traditional windmills.
