Detailed itinerary

1

This magnificent Lion was originally located on the top of the Great Tomb at Amphipolis and at some time in the past was moved to its current location, several km. away from the Tomb site.

2

The ancient city of Philippi was found by Alexander's the Great father, where we shall visit the Basilica, the theatre, the Roman Forum, the cell where Apostle Paul was imprisoned but also the Octagon Church- the first Chirstian church of Europe.

3

After the archaeological site, you will continue to the Baptistery of Saint Lydia, located in a peaceful natural setting by the river Zygaktis. It is dedicated to the first woman in Europe to be baptized by Apostle Paul, symbolizing the beginning of Christianity in Europe. A spiritually significant stop that complements the visit to Philippi.

4

For centuries, in Kavala city, Byzantines, Ottomans, Jews, merchants, tobacco workers, refugees and intellectuals mingled and prospered. Here in Macedonia, the sea-routes encountered the East-West axis, cross-fertilising both. You will see the tobacco warehouses and elegant neoclassical buildings recall the city’s glorious past and then enjoy the present with a meal and a drink in its lively centre under the eye of the city’s castle or around the port.
