Detailed itinerary

1

Erhai Lake, located near Dali in Yunnan Province, is one of China’s largest freshwater lakes. Shaped like an ear, it is named “Erhai,” meaning “Ear-shaped Sea.” Surrounded by Cangshan Mountain and Dali Old Town, it offers stunning views, crystal-clear waters, and charming lakeside villages. The lake is famous for its peaceful scenery, cycling routes, and traditional Bai minority culture along its shores.

2

Shuanglang is a picturesque ancient fishing village located on the northeast shore of Erhai Lake in Dali, Yunnan Province, China. Known for its breathtaking lake and mountain scenery, it offers panoramic views of the Cangshan Mountains and the vast Erhai Lake. The village is famous for its well-preserved Bai ethnic architecture, tranquil atmosphere, and artistic vibe, attracting painters, photographers, and travelers seeking peace and inspiration.

3

Xiao Putuo, meaning “Little Putuo,” is a small islet located in the southeast part of Erhai Lake near Wase Village, Dali, Yunnan Province, China. The islet is named after Mount Putuo, a famous Buddhist sacred site, and is home to a small but elegant temple dedicated to Guanyin, the Bodhisattva of Compassion.

Covering only a few dozen square meters, Xiao Putuo consists of a rocky outcrop with the temple built atop it, surrounded by clear blue waters. The temple, originally built during the Ming Dynasty, attracts both pilgrims and tourists who come to pray for blessings and enjoy the serene beauty of Erhai Lake. Visitors often take a short boat ride to reach the islet, where they can admire its peaceful atmosphere, ancient architecture, and panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and lake.

Xiao Putuo is renowned for its picturesque scenery, combining religious culture with natural landscapes, making it a tranquil and spiritual destination in Dali.

4

Xizhou Ancient Town is located about 18 kilometers north of Dali Old Town, on the western shore of Erhai Lake in Yunnan Province, China. Historically, it was an important commercial center along the ancient Tea Horse Road and is well known as a cultural heartland of the Bai ethnic people.

The town is famous for its well-preserved Bai architecture, featuring traditional residential courtyards with ornate wooden carvings, marble decorations, and distinctive horse-head walls. Many of these houses were built during the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China period, reflecting both Bai and Western architectural influences due to historical trade and returned overseas merchants.

5

The Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple are an iconic ensemble located near the old town of Dali, Yunnan Province, China. Built during the Tang and early Song dynasties (9th–10th centuries), these pagodas form an equilateral triangle at the eastern foot of Cangshan Mountain and command majestic views overlooking Erhai Lake.
