Stop 2

Gradually leaving the city, we will discover the natural beauties of the mountains of the suburbs of Tbilisi. The first point of our stop will be the functioning Orthodox monastery of Jvari, where the cross was first installed in Georgia, after the conversion of this country to Christianity in 337. Also, you will have a wonderful view from the observation deck at the confluence of the two Aragvi and Kura rivers, which were described in the poem "Mtsyri" by M.Yu. Lermontov. You will also see the city of Mtskheta itself from a bird's eye view.

After spending 30-40 minutes at the location of Jvari, we will go down to the city of Mtskheta and the descent there will take only 10 minutes. On the way, if desired, we will stop at the photo pause. Having arrived at the parking lot, we will walk along the pedestrian streets of the old city, where you will have the opportunity to choose all kinds of souvenirs, minancari jewelry (cloisonne enamel), churchkhels, Svan salt and even taste real Georgian wine or stronger drinks. Also on the streets there are cafeterias and small restaurants.
Walking through the streets we will visit one of the most magnificent churches in Georgia, Svetitskhoveli Cathedral built in the 11th century by the architect Arsukidze and rightfully having the status of a saint of saints of the Georgian Orthodox Church.
