This ticket includes entry to the park and train ride, the price of which is bundled together to provide the best value for money. The train allows visitors to see much of the lower gardens without having to walk and leaves the upper gardens to explore on foot during June, July & August from 12-4pm only.
The grounds include a host of sites for families, couples and friends to explore, including walled gardens, ponds, lakes, a lakeside Nymphaeum, a hedge maze, heritage trees and sculptures. Children can make a wish at Oakfield Park’s Faerie tree, while navigating their way through extensive walks and trails.
Oakfield Park’s crowning glory is a 4.5km miniature gauge railway with a diesel train operating passenger trips daily. This is a magical way to explore the park’s gardens as the train passes through flower meadows, beautiful woodlands, willow tunnels, oak circles, boardwalks, heritage trees, a wooden causeway and sparkling streams and lakes. On the last sunday of every month is Steam Sunday, with the steam train operating all day.
After a day rambling around the parklands, visitors can refuel in Buffers Garden Restaurant, which is open daily and serves a delicious selection of home baked goodies, light bites and meals – all created with produce from the park’s gardens.
Upon entry into Oakfield Park, stop at the green Kiosk where your ticket will be taken and you will be given your train tickets. If the kiosk is unattended, please park your car and make your way down the gravel path to Buffers restaurant where your ticket will be taken and train tickets given.
