Arriving at Petropolis, start off at the Imperial Museum, housed in the former summer palace of Pedro II, Brazil's second emperor. Follow your guide into this restored Austrian-style palace built in 1845, and get a good look at how Brazil’s royalty once lived.

Walk by tapestries, antique furniture and jewels, and gawk at the imperial crown studded with over 600 diamonds and 77 pearls, weighing nearly four pounds (1.9 kg). See the golden quill used by Princess Isabel to sign a law that liberated Brazil’s slaves in 1888.

3

You will have one hour or so to have lunch (not included) in a local restaurant before walking to the Gothic Cathedral

4
Stop 4

The tour will continue on to the Gothic Cathedral where Princess Isabel was buried along with the tombstones of D. Pedro II and his wife.

5
Stop 5

You will go to the 14 Bis Square and then walk to the Santos Dumont Museum House, better known as The Enchanted. A picturesque residence embedded in a steep town in the city, built in 1918.

The Museum preserves and disseminates a memory of the father of Brazilian aviation, the engineering genius who revolutionized the world.

The visit to this Museum is optional and therefore the tickets are not included.

6
Stop 6

Walk over to a quiet park and feast your eyes on the Crystal Palace, a ballroom of glass and steel with chandeliers, all built and imported from France, as a gift to Princess Isabel from her husband. Hear about the expositions and royal parties once held here.

You will stay here for around 40 minutes if you are going to the Teresa Street later. But if you are going to the Bohemia Beer Factory, the visit here will last for 10 minutes only
