Pass by the bay and get spectacular views from land
At the foot of Urca Mountain lies a small, picturesque beach with reddish sand, nestled between dramatic cliffs on both sides.
Our first stop is Morro da Urca, the 220-meter-high hill that serves as the first cable car station to Sugarloaf. From its summit, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Rio’s most iconic sights — including the beaches of Leme, Copacabana, Ipanema, Flamengo, and Leblon; Pedra da Gávea; the Tijuca Massif; Corcovado with Christ the Redeemer; Guanabara Bay; Botafogo Bay; Downtown Rio; Santos Dumont Airport; Governador Island; Niterói; the Rio–Niterói Bridge; and in the distance, the Serra do Mar and the peak of Dedo de Deus.
From this stage, a second cable car takes you up to the top. When you get there, you will understand why Rio is considered one of the most beautiful destinations in the world. At 395 meters you’ll enjoy breath taking views from Copacabana beach, several beaches of Niterói and the Santa Cruz fortress, which was during the colonial times and Brazilian Empire the main defensive structure of Guanabara Bay and the Port of Rio de Janeiro. You can catch up great views of the charming city, see the native rainforest and take your best photo shots ever. You will see all the modern and natural beauties during this tour while thinking of the rich history you’ve just learned about Rio.
