Detailed itinerary

1

Zhinval water reservoir with crystal clear water of bright blue color is one of the most beautiful places in Georgia, it is equally beautiful at any time of the year. The Zhinval water reservoir on the Aragvi River was filled in 1984. The area is 12 km², the length is 12 km, the capacity is 130 MW, the dam height is 101 m, the size is 400 m, and the reservoir volume is 520 million cubic meters. The underground hydroelectric power station is located at a depth of 73 m, 4 hydro units with a capacity of 32,500 kW each. It was put into operation in 1985.

2

Ananuri – is a fortress that stretches at the foot of the wooded massif of Sheupovari on the right bank of the River Aragvi. With the construction of the dam near the village Zhinvali, Ananuri was on the shore of the reservoir. The first information about Ananuri is known from the XIV century. In ancient Persian literature, it is called the fortified city of Kara-Kalkan-Kara, which means "Fortress of black shields". This name was given to the city because its protection was entrusted to the Khevsur people, usually armed with shields. At the end of the XVII century and in the first half of the 18th century (until 1740) Ananuri was the residence and stronghold of one of the strongest feudal clans in Georgia - the Aragvi Eristavs, whose property included estates located in Aragvi Basin.

3

Gudauri is a mountain resort that has developed in recent years on the southern slopes of the Caucasus Mountains in Georgia, fascinating guests with huge opportunities for active recreation in the mountains, amazing landscapes, and a hospitable atmosphere. The resort is also distinguished by its versatility - there are opportunities for skiing for everyone - both beginners and professionals. The presence of high and mountain-free mountains made the resort a paradise for freeride lovers. High and protracted slopes can bring a lot of pleasure to those who sort out their fear and dare to subdue them.

4

Stepantsminda (Kazbegi) is a village in the mountains in the north of Georgia, in the gorge of the river Terek, at the foot of Mkinvartsveri mountain (Kazbek mountain), at an altitude of 1750 meters above sea level. The status of the settlement was given to this place in 1966. The population is about 2 thousand people. In the village of Stepantsminda, the two-story house-museum of the writer Alexander Kazbegi (1848-1893) has been preserved (today it is a museum of local lore). Here, in front of the house is the grave of the writer, and a bust is installed. In the center of the village, there is a monument to the writer. From the top of the mountain, where the church of the Holy Trinity, Gergeti is located, opens a magnificent view of the village.

5

The Church of the Holy Trinity (Tsminda Sameba) is a cross-domed church built in the XIV century. It is located high on the mountain, at an altitude of 2,170 m at the foot of Mkinvartsveri Mountain (Kazbek) (5,047 m), along the Georgian Military Road over the village Gergeti. From the top of the mountain, where the church of the Holy Trinity - Gergeti is located, opens a magnificent view.
