Detailed itinerary

1
Stop 1

You will first visit The Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world, was a Greek temple dedicated to the goddess of Artemis, and built in one of the flat areas of Ephesus. Today one can see the ruins of the foundations of this marvelous construction of the Hellenistic Age, entirely made of marble and full of sculptured columns whose lower portions were carved with figures in high relief.

2
Stop 2

You will then visit the world famous ancient Greco-Roman City of Ephesus, which is one of the most extensive ongoing archeological sites as well as one of the most well preserved ancient cities in the world. You enter through the Magnesia Gate where you will begin a slow, downhill walk with your guide into the ruins of this Roman provincial capital. Your route will take you past the Odeon Theater, the Celsus Library, the Temple of Hadrian, the Fountain of Trajan, and the Great Theater. The theater, which seats 24,000, is the believed site where St. Paul preached to the Ephesians, and is used today for a local spring festival.

Stop 3

Thereafter visit the Ephesus Terrace Houses which are located on the slopes of Bulbul Mountain, opposite the Hadrian Temple. Also called as “the houses of rich”, these houses were for the important and wealthy people of Ephesus, as only rich people could afford such houses.

NOTE: Please be aware that this option involves walking uphill and over 100 stairs, but not all at the same time; each level is approximately 10 to 15 stairs.
