The Dendera Temple Complex dates back to the Ptolemaic period (late 4th century BCE to the mid-1st century BCE) and was built on the site of earlier structures. It consists of several buildings, including the main temple, the birth house, the sacred lake, a sanatorium, and various chapels and shrines.
The main temple at Dendera is an impressive structure with beautifully decorated walls and ceilings. The reliefs and carvings depict various scenes from Egyptian mythology and religious rituals. One of the most famous features of the temple is the Dendera Zodiac, a well-known astronomical relief that is now displayed in the Louvre Museum in Paris.
