About this experience

The Mayan Ruins of Chacchoben are the most popular and visited attraction to spend a great day on the Costa Maya. It is approximately 55 minutes by car from the Port of Costa Maya. This site is located a few kilometers from the town of Chacchoben from which its name is derived. The translation of the Mayan word "Chacchoben" refers to "The Place of Red Corn." The structures at this site are characterized by large temples and enormous platforms dating back to 700 AD. c.

Stop 1

When you arrive at the port of Costa Maya, after you disembark your cruise you will have to go to the main exit where the yellow taxis are, there we have transport with our logo and one of our drivers can take you directly to our office where we will check in where you will wait about 15 minutes before leaving for your excursion and you can enjoy a complimentary drink, and then leave to your first stop at the archaeological zone of Chacchoben that will take about an hour to arrive.

Be part of this great experience, enjoy and learn a little more about one of the greatest civilizations that humanity has known "The Mayans". From your arrival at the Costa Maya port you will be immersed in the ancient jungle that keeps the great secrets of this civilization and that you will be able to discover. Enjoy this tour that will take you to know one of the largest cities in Southern Mexico. When you arrive at the archaeological zone, let yourself be enchanted by the wonders of its constructions. Visit, discover and learn more about this, seeing the current inhabitants of the Archaeological Zone; spider monkeys. Dazzling with the beautiful evergreen jungle around you, a tropical climate and the mosquitoes that are never missing, welcoming new visitors with encouragement.

At the end of your tour of the magnificent city of Chacchoben. Your driver will be taking you to the Seven Colors Lagoon (Bacalar) which takes approximately 45 minutes to drive to get there. Where you can enjoy a rich local meal and two drinks (booze or non-alcoholic) included per person; and you can also swim and appreciate its beautiful colors.

After completing your tour of the archaeological area and enjoying our beautiful lagoon of seven colors. Your driver will be taking you back to the port of Costa Maya which will take approximately one hour with 45 minutes to 2 hours to arrive.
