Detailed itinerary

1

Wat Phu Khao Thong is an iconic monastery built in 1395, located northwest of Ayutthaya. It underwent multiple modifications in 1569, 1587 and finally rebuilt in 1744, the design of which can still be seen today. The monastery complex includes an active temple built on ancient ruins and offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding area from its elevated base. Serving as a living testament to the region's rich history, it continues to function as a place of Buddhist worship and pilgrimage.

2

Wat Phra Si Sanphet Temple was considered the holiest of all in ancient Ayutthaya. The temple was exclusively used for royal ceremonies until it was destroyed by Burmese in 1767. It still leaves its visitors spellbound with its royal splendor and glory.

3

Viharn Phra Mongkol Bophit is a large assembly hall that houses the Phra Mongkhon Bophit, one of the largest bronze Buddha statues in Thailand sculpted in 1538. The term "Viharn" refers to an assembly hall in a Buddhist temple, while "Phra Mongkol Bophit" is the name of the Buddha statue it houses. The statue was relocated and preserved under various Thai kings, and experienced a series of restorations after incidents such as lightning strikes and fire damages

4

Wat Phra Mahathat is among the oldest and most significant temples in Ayutthaya, which once housed the Buddha's holy relic. It was heavily damaged in 1767. Key attractions include ancient structures, murals, and a renowned Buddha's head entwined in tree roots.
