Shiretoko Goko (Five Lakes) in winter is a special world of tranquility where only a limited number of people are allowed to walk.
Only during the severe winter season can visitors walk on the surface of the lakes, which are beautiful from spring to autumn, with snowshoes. The magnificent view of the silvery white Shiretoko mountain range against the clear blue sky and the drift ice that covers the sea beyond the horizon during the drift ice season are unparalleled. This tour can only be experienced in the middle of winter in Shiretoko.
