Day 1
Marrakech – Atlas Mountains – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley
Approx. 6-hour journey
Your journey to the Erg Chebbi desert begins in the morning from Marrakech. We’ll cross the High Atlas Mountains, passing through several kasbahs and Berber villages nestled in the Atlas range. Along the way, we'll make stops for photos, to enjoy the scenery, stretch your legs, and have a cup of coffee. One of the key stops is at the Tizi N’Tichka pass, where you'll admire the panoramic views it offers. We’ll then continue on to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, the most important stop on the first day of the desert excursion from Marrakech.
Ait Ben Haddou is the most famous ksar (fortified village) in Morocco and arguably one of the country’s most impressive and fascinating landmarks, earning it recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You’ll enjoy a relaxed visit to this photogenic village, which has served as a filming location for major Hollywood productions such as Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, and Game of Thrones.
After having lunch at one of the local cafés, we’ll continue the journey toward the Dades Valley, passing through Ouarzazate, the Skoura oasis, and Klaa Mgouna—the capital of the Valley of Roses, known for its traditional rose water distillation workshops. At the end of the day, we’ll arrive in the Dades Valley, where we will spend the night.
Day 2
Dades Valley – Tinghir – Erfoud – Merzouga
Approx. 4-hour journey
Our 3-day group tour to the Moroccan desert of Merzouga continues after enjoying a traditional breakfast. We’ll travel along the Road of the 1001 Kasbahs, heading toward the Tinghir oasis, passing by ancient kasbahs and many charming Berber villages. Next, we’ll arrive in Tineghir, a breathtaking 15 km valley lined with date palm trees. You'll have the chance to admire the towering gray and pink rock walls that surround the road.
We’ll then head toward Erg Chebbi, located in Merzouga. Upon arrival at the famous Sahara Desert dunes, you’ll enjoy a camel ride while watching the sunset, heading toward the oasis where your desert camp is located.
There’s nothing more special than spending the night among the dunes of the Merzouga Sahara in a traditional nomadic tent—or even under the open sky, beneath shooting stars. If you wish, you can also enjoy magical moments playing drums with your experienced camel guide.
Merzouga – Erfoud – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
Approx. 9-hour journey
On the final day of our desert excursion from Marrakech to Merzouga, we’ll pick you up in the morning and take you to a nearby spot where you can witness a fantastic sunrise over the dunes.
After breakfast, you’ll enjoy a camel ride back to the main road, where your driver will be waiting to begin the return journey via Ouarzazate. We’ll continue our trip back to Marrakech, crossing the High Atlas Mountains after stopping for lunch along the way.
The 3-day Merzouga desert tour will come to an end in Marrakech in the late afternoon (around 7:00 PM).
