Piran is one of the oldest and most picturesque towns in Slovenia, rich in history and culture. Nearly 500 years of Venetian influence have given it a unique and timeless charm. Its cultural heritage is not confined to museums - architectural and artistic gems are part of everyday life and can be seen at every turn, from the elegant main square to the narrow winding streets and seaside promenade.
Giuseppe Tartini, the world-famous composer and violinist born and raised in Piran, left a lasting mark on the town. His bronze statue now stands proudly in the main square, alongside Tartini’s house, where visitors can admire one of his violins. Tartini Square is surrounded by impressive buildings, including the richly decorated Municipal Palace, Tartini Theatre, Maritime Museum, Aquarium, Marine Biological Station, Baroque House, and Apollonio Palace. Overlooking the town from the hilltop is the Church of Saint George, the largest and most significant church in Piran, offering stunning views of the sea and coastline. The town’s medieval wall, narrow winding streets, fishermen’s nets, and compact houses climbing the hillside all combine with the shimmering Adriatic to create the feeling of stepping into a painting.
We will also enjoy a panoramic drive through Izola, a picturesque seaside town known for its rich fishing heritage, scenic coastline, and charming old town.
We will also pass by Portorož, which literally means 'Port of Roses' - a well-known coastal resort famous for its hotels, casinos, and sandy beaches. Nearby lie the Sečovlje salt pans, where salt is still harvested from the sea using traditional methods that date back centuries.
