The Pyramids of Giza are one of the most famous tourist attractions in Egypt and the world. They were built as tombs for pharaohs during the Old Kingdom period, around 2500 BC. The three pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerinus are located on the Giza plateau, on the outskirts of Cairo.
The Great Pyramid of Giza, also known as the Pyramid of Cheops or Khufu, is the largest and most famous of the three pyramids. It is estimated to have taken around 20 years to build and is made up of over 2 million limestone blocks, each weighing around 2.5 tons.
The Pyramid of Chephren, or Khafre, is slightly smaller than the Great Pyramid but appears taller because it is built on higher ground. The Pyramid of Mykerinus, or Menkaure, is the smallest of the three and is located to the south-west of the other two.
The tour will then continue to the famous Egyptian Museum, which is home to an impressive collection of artifacts from the Pharaonic period.
