About this experience

The Etna and Alcantara Gorge tour from Taormina is a perfect combination of hiking and relaxation. In the first part of the experience, you will enjoy a hike around the Sartorius craters, in the Northern area of the volcano. Here, you will have the greatest views from a safe distance of the summit craters while walking on the lava fields, exploring ancient craters, and learning about the eruptions and the natural aspects of the area.
After around 1,5 hr of excursion, we will drive down to the Valley to visit the famous Alcantara Gorges. A unique activity, taking a refreshing walk in the chilly water of the river that flows in the middle of the prehistoric lava flows of Mount Etna, you will feel connected with nature, learning curious geological facts.
During the summer time, it is possible to swim in the river; therefore, we suggest bringing a swimsuit, towels, river shoes, and flip-flops.
