Detailed itinerary

1
Stop 1

We’ll drive out of the city along the western coastline of Attica and after almost 80km, we will have our first stop to see the Corinth Canal.

2
Stop 2

This canal is probably the oldest major construction work in Greece (dated 1880-1893) that really changed everything in transportation, allowing ship interconnection between the Ionian and the Aegean Sea.

3

Next stop is the small town of Ancient Corinth, where you can visit its impressive archaeological site.

4

The archaeological site includes:
Temple of Apollo: one of the earliest Doric temples in the Peloponnese and Greek mainland.
Bema of Saint Paul (Roman Forum): according to tradition, the site of Saint Paul’s (also known as the Apostle of the Nations) trial was the Bema, a large elevated rostrum standing prominently in the center of the Roman Forum of ancient Corinth, wherefrom the city’s officials addressed the public.
Archaeological Museum: the museum houses a large collection of artifacts of the local archaeological site and smaller sites in the neighboring area. The artifacts, which were systematically recovered beginning in 1896 by the Corinth Excavations, illustrate much about Ancient Corinth through Greek, Roman and Byzantine rule.

5

This is the acropolis of ancient Corinth, a typical example of castle architecture built in successive phases, as it was the fortified citadel of both ancient and medieval Corinth. Situated at the top peak of the Acrocorinth, lies the Temple of Aphrodite, the protector deity of the city of Corinth.

6

We will then head towards Heraion at Perachora.

7

Only two kilometers far from Lake of Vouliagmeni (Heraion), just below an iconic lighthouse, lies the archaeological site of Heraion. The Heraion of Perachora was a sanctuary dedicated to the goddess Hera. In addition to a temple of Hera, which is of unusual construction, the remains of a number of other structures have also been found, including an L-shaped stoa, a large cistern, dining rooms, and a second potential temple remnants.

8

Embraced by a natural pine-forest, lies one of the most beautiful lagoons in Greece. Discover the peaceful landscape, sandy beach combined with a crystal clear, shallow blue sea, taverns and restaurants with seafood and premium Mediterranean gastronomy, sea sports and activities, composing a dream scenery that will enchant you. This is the perfect place to relax while having lunch.

9
Stop 9
